Route 101 – Thunder Part 7 of 9

Flotsam

Two off-road bikers came upon the next D-Shift to the west of the Road although it was awhile before it was discovered that they were first.  They were a young couple called Rick and Rosie Stone down from the city looking for some decent biking terrain and west of the Road is quite hilly in places.  Their 4x4 was found parked just off the Road on the west side, just married too.  Both were into extreme sports, they were also early followers of the D-Shift it said on the back of their 4x4: D-Shifting is the Truth.  The cops found tracks leading west and then tracks just vanished on top of a small cliff, no bikes or bodies were found below.

It was a bit of mystery for awhile until a scientist down from the city was testing her airborne sensor package initially designed for investigating D-Shifts.  Turns out just to the right of that small cliff where the bikes would have passed through was an invisible D-Shift.  The lady scientist's sensor package disappeared into it fortunately for her it had advanced A.I. which allowed it to retraced it steps back through the D-Shift.  This was the first of the Teleporter D-Shifts discovered, the GPS telemetry of the sensor package showed that it arrived above the sea of Japan also known as the Devil's Sea.  It was discovered later that depending upon what angle you enter the D-Shift depends on where you come out not that anyone was willing to do a manned expedition.  That lady scientist was Jane Everfall the now CEO of Portal Industries one of the largest firms on the planet(s) they make Microsoft and Apple look small.  It is likely that Rick and Rosie Stone drowned in the sea of Japan that's if they survived the journey through.

These types of D-Shift don't just lead to different parts of the world but other parts of the solar system, it is not just the angle of entry either but the exact timing as well.  Get the timing wrong and your goods could end up in the middle of the Sun or orbiting Pluto, Everfall's initial testing showed that whilst living organic matter could travel through the portal it was far from safe.  Passage through a portal is like sinking to the bottom of the deepest ocean without a diver's suit on and then coming straight back up within a few seconds.  Whilst you won't drown you will suffer from an explosive case of the bends with very messy results, none of the live animal tests Everfall tried ever arrived alive.  The portals that were found became transport hubs of non-organic matter, they could ship equipment anywhere in the solar system.  Then one bright spark hit upon on the idea of decompression chambers at either ends of the portal, it required several days of decompression but it was possible to send people through the portals.  It took an awful lot of money to make it safe and the government boys were always looking over Everfall's shoulders to make sure they didn't destroy the planet in the process but they finally got there.  Now we have colonies on the Moon and Mars, this however was not the end of Everfall's discoveries.

During her tests of travel through a portal she discovered that whilst the effects upon organic matter were the similar to violent decompression this was not actually the case.  Her sensor telemetry showed extreme gravity similar to if someone tried to descend through Jupiter's atmosphere, perhaps this was that ever elusive dark matter that scientist's have been searching for since they realised that Universe appeared to be missing about eighty percent of its mass.  That particular debate however is still going on.

Reality at a Distance

The curious thing about our universe/reality is that anything that is extremely far away from us does not make sense like for instance the fact that scientists think that the Universe is missing matter and light, to fix these discrepancies in the theory of everything they created bodge factors called Dark Matter & Dark Light. There was Dark Energy as well but they seem have spotted Gravity waves so the Dark Energy must exist.  If you leave our macro-verse and travel down to the very very small you eventually arrive at the Quantum level where surprise surprise nothing makes sense either.

Atomic particles appear and disappear seemingly randomly and if you observe a particle it changes its position I can only assume particles are particularly shy of any external observers.  Particles can also be entangled with one another which apparently allows for instantaneous communication between the two.  It has been referred to as spooky action at a distance.

Classical physics all works nicely at the human level of perception but once you observe the very distant or the very small reality falls apart, why is that?  Are there holes in the make-up of this reality?  Is Reality perhaps nothing more than a vastly complex computer model and what we are seeing are the edges of the model whereby the designers of Reality did not think they needed to code for the Quantum level or the larger workings of the Universe.  If we are part of a computer system how could we ever prove a negative or positive.

Another possibility although I suppose somewhat similar to a computer model would be what Creationists believe (no facts just belief) based upon on the literal truth of the Bible.  Where supposedly God created the Heaven and Earth in six days, I suppose it could be argued that since the Bible does not fully defined the length of a day those six days could have encompassed four billion years which is roughly the age of the Earth.  Humans have only been around for the last 200,000 years and in the last 6000 years civilisation started.

Creationists have fallen out of fashion in many religious circles over the last decade and have been replaced with a new philosophy called Intelligent Design whereby they do not believe in the literal truth of the Bible however they still maintain their belief despite all evidence to contrary:

“certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection."

It is somewhat curious that Intelligent Design has evolved from Creationism by a process of natural selection.

What are the chances to discovering the real truth in my life time probably very unlikely unless someone invents a Interstellar drive or an Ant-Man suit which allows us to find the sign which says:

Abandon all hope all that enter here.
And an exit sign that says: Yeah! Right!

Theories of Dark Stuff

The basic scientific method is as follows:

1. Develop a theory based upon existing data and other current theories
2. Make observations
3. Think about it, why is this happening
4. Come up with a Hypotheses – causes
5. Test your hypothesis with experiments
6. Update your theory and start the whole process over again

Science has this problem with the universe, when looking out into the universe there appears to be an awful lot of stuff we cannot see not for lack of trying I might add.  We are using every method possible to see stuff in universe and yet our universe has parts missing.  I expect the box it came in says somewhere on the back: May contain small dark parts (do not give to small children).

27% of the observable universe is missing so to fix their theory of Everything scientists have come up with a bodge factor called: Dark Matter which is supposedly composed of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) however despite different methods of detection none have been found so far.

In the 1990s after observations of the universe showed it to be expanding at an increasing rate a new form of energy was hypothesized to exist called: Dark Energy which apparently is the cause of the expansion.  All evidence is so far is indirect and completely over my head regarding the actual science.

Dark Flow first appeared in 2008 showing that galaxy clusters had a peculiar velocity and they are flowing in a common direction towards the Centaurus and Hydra constellations which is also towards the Great Attractor.  Is the Great Attractor the source of the Dark Flow and do we really have to name the velocity Dark something?  How about Spooky velocity instead, oh yes that has been used already.

In 2014 scientists claimed that the universe is missing eighty percent of its light to fix this glaring issue they came up with Dark Light which is created by decaying Dark Matter that matter nobody can currently find.  See article here: 80% Light Missing

Four universal bodge factors to make their theory of Everything work.  The problem with applying the scientific method step five is that it all too far away making it extremely difficult do testable experiments.  There are however quite few scientists out there that have alternate theories regarding the Dark stuff.

If we look down at the quantum level we have a problem seeing particles because basically they are really small and we have to use instruments like the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to detect anything useful and even then certain particles are quite elusive particularly anything dark or Higgs like.

Surely with all this dark stuff in universe we can persuade it to make an appearance by creating the conditions that it cannot say no to.  The LHC is probably one method although so far it has failed to yield results, please correct me if I am wrong.

I find it annoying that whenever something is missing in the universe it is immediately labelled Dark something, yes I understand why but it seems to lack imagination.  I'm currently missing a work polo shirt does that mean I should say Dark Forces have taken my shirt.  How about we described stuff the correct way.

• Dark Matter = Missing Matter
• Dark Energy = Expanding/Missing Energy
• Dark Flow =  Missing Flow
• Dark Light = Missing Light

 In fact lets just say: Missing!

Update on my previous post: Smoke and Mirrors is Stranger than Fiction

My recent of understanding regarding quantum stuff has changed today as you could see in the above previous post, where I stated about observation of particles:

Atomic particles pop in and out of existence when we "observe" them or not...

Well that turns out to be a complete misunderstanding of the cat theory which is just a thought experiment and a common misconception of what a wave function is by us lay-persons.  A wave function is a mathematical description of a particle instead anything actually real.

I shall leave the previous post as is since it provides of evidence of the one true constant in the universe: Change.
