The Keeper - Star Trek Discovery (Fanfiction x/o)

The Keeper stared at the the incoming shuttle craft not with his eyes but with his mind, Talosian's long ago lost certain physical attributes when they attained their abilities with their minds. His eyes worked well enough on short distances, his mind however could see great distances across the galaxy and the rest of the universe.

He saw the Vulcan Spock and his sister Michael within the shuttle, Spock's mind is in chaos and Michael is determined to save him at whatever cost.  Her guilt of driving him away drives her onward, the mystery of the Red Angels is foremost within her mind and yet unsure of it means for Spock.

The Keeper and his fellow Talosians have been of aware the 'Red' signals as the humans called them but they have been unable to determine their origin within the universe.  The time anomaly that the Starfleet vessel Discovery has recently encountered would suggest that the Red Angel is from the future which is why they have been unable to discover their origins.

Despite their significant abilities to use their minds to travel the far reaches of space without actually moving from Talos IV, the ability to see the future has always alluded them.  Several attempts have been made all have ended with disastrous results for the sender.

It was obvious to the Talosians that the Red Angel was changing events to create some sort of advantage in the future, their intentions so far appear to be good but The Keeper remembered something Captain Pike had in his mind when they first met about good intentions.  It worried The Keeper that he could not remember with clarity what Captain Pike thought.  This was unusual normally their memories are perfect they do not forget anything.

The Keeper had considered talking with the entities known simply as the 'M', in the past one of their number have been receptive to the Talosian's thought patterns.   M9 is not considered to typical of his species a little more curious than most.  The 'M' have been around since before the birth of this universe, M9 explained in broad strokes that the previous universe had been destroyed by a single humanoid using six tools beyond his understanding.

The destruction of the previous universe left many of the 'M' destroyed in attempting to save it.  With limited resources the 'M' recruited another species to help with maintaining a balance within the newly formed universe.  This species had already managed to leave their physical bodies behind and ascend to a new plane of existence.  They later became known as the Q continuum and at some point the 'M' and 'Q' had a falling out over how best to maintain balance although The Keeper believed that M9 left out much of the story relating to their disagreement.

M9 had told the Taolsians that travel through time contained huge risks not just to the traveler but to everything else within universe.  The 'M' and the 'Q' rarely visited the physical planes of the universe since their responsibilities kept them on the higher planes of existence but because of the previous incident the 'M' kept a single agent in the physical planes at all times.

The shuttle craft edged closed towards Talos IV, such a slow method travel.  The Keeper consulted with his fellow Talosians and it was decided that M9 was probably already aware of the Red Angel.  They would allow the shuttle craft to land, it was obvious to all Spock needed their help to clear the chaos from his mind.  A Vulcan in a human mind of the same body will always create receptors capable of accessing far beyond what is known.  Vulcan training normally limits such abilities in the most receptive.

It is clear to The Keeper Spock needs his path cleared however what will Starfleet do when they discover Spock's whereabouts.  Perhaps then M9 will be of some help.

Ib & Ob: IOP Paradox Part 4

Ib: You were right for a change there is a lot flashing lights in the streets let us hope no power cuts occur.

Ob: Remember what Prof.  Zi said about those statements.

Ib: Yes I know it lets the universe know too much, best to keep it in the dark. But the Prof is very very old.

Ob: With way more experience than the two of us put together although I know what you mean. Have you entered the Muse of Urns yet?

 Ib: I'm in.

Ob: No problems getting in, it is open?

Ib: Well mostly.

Ob: What do you mean by mostly?

Ib: It is mostly closed but I found something open and managed to squeeze through even with the suit on.

Ob: You did enter by the front right?

Ib: Maybe.

Ob: Where are you now?

Ib: Looks like a gallery full of carved stones, I thought you had me on the scanner?

Ob: I do but the artifact's energy signature is making the slab go fuzzy.

Ib: Why are you not at the console on the bridge?

Ob: One of the Trilon's you failed to feed earlier bit through an engineering cable.

Ib: Which colour?

Ob: Black with a blue stripe on it.

Ib: Those are normally protected by heavy shields.

Ob: I told you Trilons can be violent.  Back on the bridge now, according to the console you should be right on top of it. Many of the sub-species there?

Ib: Err the place is empty, wait a panug! I think I found it, a stone carving of us.  Well of us that is.

Ob: What do you mean us?

Ib: Looks like three Greys.

Ob: Fine, attach the locator beacon to it and I will transport it up.

Ib: What beacon?

Ob: The one in the return sample kit.

Ib: And that would be where exactly?

Ob: In the suit, the pouch marked RSK.

Ib: This suit has a million and one pouches this might take awhile. Hold on I am picking up vibrations, anything on the scanner?

Ob: There appears to be number of sub-species heading towards your position. Act natural!

Ib: That is easy for you to say.

Ob: I know I just said it.

Ib: They have arrived looks like three of them are pushing the rest my way. They are holding up metal tubes like the one I took off my lunch.

Reality at a Distance

The curious thing about our universe/reality is that anything that is extremely far away from us does not make sense like for instance the fact that scientists think that the Universe is missing matter and light, to fix these discrepancies in the theory of everything they created bodge factors called Dark Matter & Dark Light. There was Dark Energy as well but they seem have spotted Gravity waves so the Dark Energy must exist.  If you leave our macro-verse and travel down to the very very small you eventually arrive at the Quantum level where surprise surprise nothing makes sense either.

Atomic particles appear and disappear seemingly randomly and if you observe a particle it changes its position I can only assume particles are particularly shy of any external observers.  Particles can also be entangled with one another which apparently allows for instantaneous communication between the two.  It has been referred to as spooky action at a distance.

Classical physics all works nicely at the human level of perception but once you observe the very distant or the very small reality falls apart, why is that?  Are there holes in the make-up of this reality?  Is Reality perhaps nothing more than a vastly complex computer model and what we are seeing are the edges of the model whereby the designers of Reality did not think they needed to code for the Quantum level or the larger workings of the Universe.  If we are part of a computer system how could we ever prove a negative or positive.

Another possibility although I suppose somewhat similar to a computer model would be what Creationists believe (no facts just belief) based upon on the literal truth of the Bible.  Where supposedly God created the Heaven and Earth in six days, I suppose it could be argued that since the Bible does not fully defined the length of a day those six days could have encompassed four billion years which is roughly the age of the Earth.  Humans have only been around for the last 200,000 years and in the last 6000 years civilisation started.

Creationists have fallen out of fashion in many religious circles over the last decade and have been replaced with a new philosophy called Intelligent Design whereby they do not believe in the literal truth of the Bible however they still maintain their belief despite all evidence to contrary:

“certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection."

It is somewhat curious that Intelligent Design has evolved from Creationism by a process of natural selection.

What are the chances to discovering the real truth in my life time probably very unlikely unless someone invents a Interstellar drive or an Ant-Man suit which allows us to find the sign which says:

Abandon all hope all that enter here.
And an exit sign that says: Yeah! Right!

Nature's Way

You may have heard the news from last week that a weasel chewed into a cable at the Large Hadron Collider in CERN Switzerland thereby shutting the whole thing down and in process electrocuting itself.

The question is why and how did a weasel get in the first place?

The cost of the collider is quite amazing really £2.8bn as of January 2010 perhaps someone was hoping the weasel in the works would cause more damage and save some money a somewhat naive view I would think.

LHC is quite safe despite what other people would have you believe, the universe pretty does similar things the LHC does by design and the Earth is hit by comic radiation every second, we are still here.

CERN has provided its own slides for the day in question, see here look at slide eleven.

I find it curious that the LHC has been running for eight years without a single incidence of wild life incursion or at least none reported in the national press apart from one possible bird in 2009 which was never found.  Upon searching through the Internet I came across the following post:

Which begs the question why was this weasel chewing on the one cable that could shutdown the LHC just when it was running causing a: "severe electrical perturbation".  According to another website:

Scientists had been gearing up to resume experiments at the giant lab early next week following a technical stoppage of several months, and to relaunch their superpowered hunt for particles that could change our understanding of the Universe.

Following the weasel incident and several other technical issues, Marsollier said "we will now need to check over the entire machine again".

He said it remained unclear when the experiments could resume, but added that it clearly would "take more time before we can get started."

Who does it benefit that the LHC is not running?

Is there a fringe organisation out there that thinks they saved the world from destruction, did they think using a weasel would be a neat irony?  Who knows, I definitely do not.

Theories of Dark Stuff

The basic scientific method is as follows:

1. Develop a theory based upon existing data and other current theories
2. Make observations
3. Think about it, why is this happening
4. Come up with a Hypotheses – causes
5. Test your hypothesis with experiments
6. Update your theory and start the whole process over again

Science has this problem with the universe, when looking out into the universe there appears to be an awful lot of stuff we cannot see not for lack of trying I might add.  We are using every method possible to see stuff in universe and yet our universe has parts missing.  I expect the box it came in says somewhere on the back: May contain small dark parts (do not give to small children).

27% of the observable universe is missing so to fix their theory of Everything scientists have come up with a bodge factor called: Dark Matter which is supposedly composed of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) however despite different methods of detection none have been found so far.

In the 1990s after observations of the universe showed it to be expanding at an increasing rate a new form of energy was hypothesized to exist called: Dark Energy which apparently is the cause of the expansion.  All evidence is so far is indirect and completely over my head regarding the actual science.

Dark Flow first appeared in 2008 showing that galaxy clusters had a peculiar velocity and they are flowing in a common direction towards the Centaurus and Hydra constellations which is also towards the Great Attractor.  Is the Great Attractor the source of the Dark Flow and do we really have to name the velocity Dark something?  How about Spooky velocity instead, oh yes that has been used already.

In 2014 scientists claimed that the universe is missing eighty percent of its light to fix this glaring issue they came up with Dark Light which is created by decaying Dark Matter that matter nobody can currently find.  See article here: 80% Light Missing

Four universal bodge factors to make their theory of Everything work.  The problem with applying the scientific method step five is that it all too far away making it extremely difficult do testable experiments.  There are however quite few scientists out there that have alternate theories regarding the Dark stuff.

If we look down at the quantum level we have a problem seeing particles because basically they are really small and we have to use instruments like the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to detect anything useful and even then certain particles are quite elusive particularly anything dark or Higgs like.

Surely with all this dark stuff in universe we can persuade it to make an appearance by creating the conditions that it cannot say no to.  The LHC is probably one method although so far it has failed to yield results, please correct me if I am wrong.

I find it annoying that whenever something is missing in the universe it is immediately labelled Dark something, yes I understand why but it seems to lack imagination.  I'm currently missing a work polo shirt does that mean I should say Dark Forces have taken my shirt.  How about we described stuff the correct way.

• Dark Matter = Missing Matter
• Dark Energy = Expanding/Missing Energy
• Dark Flow =  Missing Flow
• Dark Light = Missing Light

 In fact lets just say: Missing!

Update on my previous post: Smoke and Mirrors is Stranger than Fiction

My recent of understanding regarding quantum stuff has changed today as you could see in the above previous post, where I stated about observation of particles:

Atomic particles pop in and out of existence when we "observe" them or not...

Well that turns out to be a complete misunderstanding of the cat theory which is just a thought experiment and a common misconception of what a wave function is by us lay-persons.  A wave function is a mathematical description of a particle instead anything actually real.

I shall leave the previous post as is since it provides of evidence of the one true constant in the universe: Change.
